    Revamped Greek Island Guesthouse site

I've spent the last few days finally overhauling the site which needed some major housecleaning! Still cannot get the action page to come up correctly - anyone have any suggestions. I really appreciate any and all critique and hope all the links are working.

What "action page" are you referring to??
From what I can see, you are still not using an eMail Form page, but still using a simple link (which means you are probably missing tons of emails since many, many people do not use Outlook) ... or, if you have 'upgraded' to a Form, the reason the page does not "come up" is because you either did not create it as, or link to it as a ".php" page as required.
TUTORIAL: Creating an eMail Form in BlueVoda (recommended method).

I really like the new look, and am very glad you put up some video. Really does make a big difference, and when you get more videos that will currently "fit" onto your page, it is super-easy and much 'cleaner' to merely use text links to link to a separate page to where that video is, just as a 'Directory' page would be laid out.

I watched them both, and seriously was distrtacted for hours afterward .... my mind kept dancing between memories of the last time I was in Greece, and day-dreaming of what it would be like to volunteer at RTF myself, just to get away from what I am dealing with now. I even got so far as to thinking about what boots I'd have to buy that would be best for the jobs and the terrain, how many pairs of work gloves to bring, and even deciding on a new hat to wear in the fields!
I guess that tells you something about the power of video, eh?

I also like the way you "re-organized" the site as well, bringing together the others in a clearly cogent manner, which is easier to follow, navigate, and which is exponentially more effectively communicative for visitors: it presents a solid foundation for compelling visitors to drill in deeper into the site for more information and to curry favoritism. Excellent job!

Looking forward to the last few pages to be completed, but if they turn out as good as these, the site will have evolved quite nicely indeed.

Συγχαρητήρια! υπομονή σας έχει μετατραπεί σε επιτυχία!

      Revamped Greek Island Guesthouse site

      Good afternoon Vasili,

Thank you for such a comprehensive, thoughtful and humorous critique!
I'm still getting an old 'action' page.

      I am using forms.
In form Properties I've set the Action to action.php
      and I've published www.redtractorfarm.com/action.php
I've also published www.redtractorfarm.com/action.html so you can see what my 'action.php' page should look like.

I'm almost there and so pleased with the results of this recent site housecleaning. BTW have you seen this yet?: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/.../i-love-acorns

Thanks again for the review, now all the time I've spent on the site seems worth it!

      Best wishes,
      Marcie

Re: Revamped Greek Island Guesthouse site

You know, when you mentioned "action" my mind immediately went back to the day we all used Andy128's php script and the manual way to create the same thing that the BV built-in Form does today .... I don't even have that script anymore since my laptop crahsed, nor would I feel confident using it even though I am still in touch with him via Facebook.

I really would suggest you evolve to using the BV method as described in the tutorial ... and adding the bult-in CAPTCHA tool also to prevent email abuse. It isn't as hard as it looks, and is much more stable and secure. Besides, it is simply better to have everyone on the same page and up to the same speed ...

You are doing a wonderful thing, and I am happy it makes you happy too!

          Revamped Greek Island Guesthouse site

I changed the hotel form but am having trouble with the volunteer form.
Nothing I do can entice the new page to come up, only a very old one shows although I have repeatedly published with the same name. Help please!
          The problem is here: www.redtractorfarm.com/volunteerform.php
          Thanks!

Manually delete any HTML pages similarly named: HTML will always default to take precedence.

If after re-publishing one more time with the only page so named it still doesn't show up, get with Support to look into checking out what the server is not responding.

              Good afternoon Vasili,

Can you point me in the right direction for a tutorial on deleting old pages in FTP please. I must have dozens of old pages to get rid of.
              Thanks!

Re: Revamped Greek Island Guesthouse site

Using BlueFTP is probably the easiest method for you to use to efficiently manage files in your public_html/ directory ...

                TUTORIAL: How To Use BlueFTP

Once connected, you'll see all the files in the Remote panel on the right, and to delete one, you will click on one once to "Select" and use the "X Delete" Tab Command in the BlueFTP Toolbar to delete it from your Root Directory (public_html/ Directory).

                  Hi marciemayer,

Vasili said it all. It's a beautiful site in both appearance and content. I do wonder however why a link to your sitemap.xml is showing on every page?

Continuity, and the fact it "confirms" ('forces' the association with) the hard-link to the Sitemap, for the SE's do not always follow all the sitemap links to pages as we think they should (which explains the existance of, and the ability to modify the Cycle, Frequency, and other tags in the sitemap itself). It should, however, always have a transparent shape over it to render it useless to actual Visitors.
