could someone be so kind and have a look at my home page to see if the width is ok. I am thinking I may need to make it more narrow because my husband looked at it on his computer at work and tells me he couldn't see all of it. On my computer it looks fine. What is the average width that most people use?

I have a 27 inch screen and it is showing the website as being out of range. try 800 width and centered on browser. It may look good on your screen but we do not all use the same size of screen. In this case less is more.....

Don't bother trying to squeeze your website into a box too small ... take a peek at these posts first (to get the real info to work with):
