For the past couple of weeks I've been looking into putting up some background music on my ballet school site but finding something suitable that doesn't fall foul of either performing rights or a visitor who doesn't want to wait forever for it to load is no small task.

I've put up a small edited classical piece that is available and I think fits the the 'tone' but I'd appreciate very much comments from anyone who has time to take a look. TIA.

    Hi maryh,

visited your site to listen to the music but did
not hear anything, or see anything to do with sound !!

I like your presentation, simple, very effective and pleasing on the eye.....

Its posible that I am not the best person to comment on the music because
I only have WiFi which can be slow at times so I hope some of our other friends will take a look for you.
    Have fun
    Regards..... David

Its very pleasing on the eye. The music didn't start in Firefox but it did in IE6.
The music fits the tone of the site very well. I think you might have each page set at different widths or the content is positioned slightly differently on each page because as you go through the pages the menu buttons and other bits move about.

I am a big fan of the design, I would suggest maybe using buttons that fit with the design of you page. I know that hard I had to make mine. How did you get you music in the background? I am still having problems with that...

By the way I use firefox and ie, but I found that when I build for firefox the site looks best in both browsers. I added background music in page properties and yes I do have background music in ie but not in firefox, and you site is the same. When I open your site in ie I get music right away but firefox nothing... Anybody know why?

                        Hi guys

I been doing a bit of updating and once again would appreciate your comments.
Thanks to Andy128 I now have nav buttons that match the theme, you all were so right about this!

Music is perhaps my main avenue of thought at the moment, I think it was Floor Lady who said it took about 20secs to load.
Until I put up exam results and perhaps a few more photos etc it's only going to take about 20secs to get through the entire site.

I've cut that music to the bone, has anyone any suggestions?

                            Mary-
                            Loading the file depends on the kbs of the file and size of file. Might want to play around with an audio edit program and see if that would make a difference. You can find a free program here;

Download Audacity for free. A free multi-track audio editor and recorder. Audacity is a free, easy-to-use, multi-track audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. Audacity is free software, developed by a group of volunteers and distributed under the GNU General Public License (GPL).

What kbs is it at now?

                              Thanks OhS**** much appreciated.

Andy thanks for the very kind thought but I need to edit music quite often and use CoolEdit Pro and Adobe Audition.
I've already cut this file down to 2748k and just didn't think it would take anyone a whole heap of time to begin to hear it whatever their setup. But obviously I'm wrong.
I'd be very grateful if some of you who have the time would let me know how long it's actually taking to come though on your system. TIA
