How do I use outside template in BV?

I have several templates I can use however it seems I cannot open them in BV, I try using the selection, "all files" in the file opener but it doesn't want to open the template. The template aren't BV templates.

What file format are the templates? If they are JPGs/GiFs then you need to edit them in a photo/graphics editing application then insert them as images.
