Need logo help please.

Hi I made this logo and I need some advice about getting the background removed. I only able to do it,if the background white. But when I do it the pic comes out bad like the second pic. Any help greatly appreciated.

I have Adobe Master Suite CS4 for the pic modification if somebody familiar with that.
