backup subdirectories indiviually?

Hi ,

Just wondering if there is anyway to backup subdirectories indiviually (and save to zip etc) within my 'public_html' folder? (ideally as subdomains are seperate folders in here)

else have you got any recommendations for php software that i can do this?
