ftp to a sub-domain - problems

I have made 2 web pages and published them but they do not appear in the sub-domain folder I set up for them. I thought perhaps I could move them to the folder but cannot do it. I did a similar thing with 2 previous sub-domains and they are fine, so cannot understand why I am maki ng such a hash of this one. I named the page incorrectly at first, but then went back and called it 'index' and republished, but still no luck. Any ideas? Grateful for any suggestions. Also, I put a pdf file into the sub-domain folder and now cannot get it to delete. Hope you can help.

What have you set the folder permissions to?? Sounds like that might be the issue. It should be 755
