    IP is the forest

Q1 . . . With Awstats, what is the difference between a HIT and a VISIT

Q2 . . . Awstats shows a list of hits from IP 195.93.102.1-40 and when I trace it back, the location is miles from anywhere, in the middle of a forest in central France - no roads, no buildings - just trees !

Any ideas ? Maybe a wild boar with a mobile ?

When one visitor comes to your web page, that's a 'visit'

But if that page has 10 images on it, then it may count that one visit as 11 hits, 1 for the html file and 10 for the images. If that 1 visitor then looks at 20 pages of your website, this will generate hundreds of 'hits'

      200 visitors could easily generate 2, 3, 6000+ hits

So ignore hits and just concentrate on visits.

LMAO.. you cant trace down that far as you cant get the actual computers address.. just the server address. And one of those trees is utilizing an aeral connection to broadcast the internet....
