    Awstats - pages and hits

Excuse my ignorance but what is the difference?

Also - I have noticed that there may be one visitor on any day but pages are greater than the number of pages that make up the site??

    Any advice appreciated.

If you mean number of pages viewed will also indicate number of pages viewed by different visitors including the spiders and bots.

You should also look at the full list of recent visitors and the external links to your website.

    The number of countries etc?

Stats are for analytical purposes to guage how well your site is doing, the number of visitors to your site so that you can figure out how to improve the monthly results.

Well Jack hit upon what I was looking for. I've been told through BV... that having a "counter" made your site look "cheap"..Oh well.. What I can't understand in the AWSTATS.. is the difference in.. Number of visits/Pages/Hits../Bandwidth I understand. I've done tests myself and the number of "hits" was way different than the number of visits.
      Thanks..
if nothing else.. just "point to" where I can learn.

Instead of just talking why dont you make an effort to learn what they all means.

They will make a better SEO out of you.

VodaHost has put out an article in the forum about "External Links to your site and this is only allowing them to hop on your bandwidth for a free ride.

They are also a means of tracking unwanted links using you site to promote their own selling, Drugs, cigarettes, casino, quick get rich scheme, phorno, phaedophiles which you should not allow if you want to mantain good rating with the search engines.

You can stop these kind of people who uses other peoples website to promote their own websites at your expenses,

By collecting their domain names and entering their domain names or ip nos in "IP Deny Manager" in your cpanel.

Just click on their IP address or domain names to view their websites.
