Load images in cpanel- make accessible for others to make changes?

Hi There,

I've read through the forums about making changes to a site from a different computer. I gathered that it is the path of the images that creates problems from making changes from one computer to another. My question is if I manually upload the images in the control panel and indicate that path in the builder, couldn't the images be accessible from anywhere? IF so, then how do I add an image in the builder manually (with the URL that I want to assign?). THis would help out my clients to make small changes as they wish.

P.S. By the way I LOVE BLUEVODA!

What you are asking for is no longer a problem in the latest BlueVoda.

Goto Tools>Options>Publish and enter the path to the drive you store your ,bvp pages.

Thank you for your fast response but could you offer more clarity? When I goto tools,options,publish there is no place to enter a path. There is however a place to enter image name prefix. But how does this affect if I I'd like to access, make changes and publish from a different computer? Much appreciated, Lynn

Look at the bottom under Images. If you do not check the box
on the right [use page name for image prefix] BV will automatically rename your images and change all of them .png

I often build a site this way to save problems at a later date.
Just pop a html box on the page & for convenience make it the same size as your image. Then add this code with your images url. If you use the full url it can then be seen in preview.

For the above it's also under Tools>Options>Folder>Document

What I do is to copy all my images to a folder in Documents/BluVoda/images.

So all you need is to set only one path.

The problem with uploading to cPanel all your images is that you will have to link each and every image you want to use in pages you use to your webpage.

It is however is useful when you have a forum or blog or when you want to use them in other forums on the internet.

One quick afterthought: even if I create an images folder in bluevoda and then try to publish from a different computer the path will be different, right?

For example: lynn/mydocuments/bluevoda/images/

but from another computer stu/mydocuments/bluevoda/images

I've reviewed all of the tutorials but didn't pick up anything about the tools area . I'll keep looking.

Hi Chris,

not really necessary to use a HTML box, after you have uploaded the images on the server, provide, directly in BV, in the image properties dialog box, the URL of image on the server. If you are connected to the net, the image will appear in BV just as if it was an image on local computer.

With the BV ability now to change the path to the images automatically, to move your work from one computer to the other simply do this:

Store ALL images that you use in a specific folder (in example, in the BV Images folder) BEFORE you insert them in the page
2. Use the page name prefix for images created by BV (for buttons etc). This will avoid you conflicts.

When you want to work form another computer, just copy also the Images folder. Once on the second computer, in BV, go in Tools, Assets Manager and provide the new path (IF it is different, I usually setup ALL my computers to have exactly the same user / paths).

Yes, in fact:



When you want to work form another computer, just copy also the Images folder. Once on the second computer, in BV, go in Tools, Assets Manager and provide the new path (IF it is different, I usually setup ALL my computers to have exactly the same user / paths). This will automatically update all paths.

Of course, it is advisable that if you make changed on one computer, you syncronize with the second and viceversa.

thank you for all of your follow up and further clarity.

I'm having a problem with the bv images. I've put my images in an images folder in one location but the images I created within bv are located elsewhere. Do I go into cpanel/ftp to move them? I can't seem to access them through explorer even though I do see where there located and they're not appearing when a page is being published. I know that I can recreate the images but I'm assuming that there's something I'm missing. Any ideas?

P.S. Also is there still a conflict with the newer version of bv with 2 forms on one page? In the past I avoided placing 2 forms on one page becuase it created duplicate emails.

Yes, true. BV will use the default "images" folder on the site to upload images created from within the program itself. So it is simple: use the same "images" folder also for YOUR images.

You can't use two forms in the same page, because of the duplicate email.
