            Re: Password protection question

            Hi Vasilli,
Thought I had it taped... filled the password into the field.. (tried both upper and lower) when I save the prop box with the lock remains on the page. Notwithstanding I published hoping that this would be it - but no go! I'm sure that the box with the lock must disappear if I have done all as shoud be.
            Again please. thank you

I had assumed you had already reviewed the Tutorial and merely wanted an abbreviated Tip to get back on track on how to fill out fields ....

Did you properly configure your Database? Have you Saved the pages properly as .php?

                  Re: Password protection question

The link above is to a written, illustrated Tutorial, which has specifically the information and methods to protect a single page.

Quoted from the above linked Tutorial, with my emphasis bold+italicized:

What the script can do and what it can’t do (Please read!) :
As mentioned, the script allows you to create a members database and password protect the pages you like, so that only registered members can get access to them. It also provides a “Single Protect” object (tool) which allows you to password protect a page with a hardcoded password (the password is included in the protection code, and it is not included in the members database file). It is based on a flat file, in other words on a text file that contains the members details. As such, the database file MUST have a “strange” name in order that no one will be able to guess the file name and retrieve the members details. However, for security purposes, the passwords are encrypted before being stored in the file.

Again, please review the Tutorial for proper configuration and possible Troubleshooting > TUTORIAL

The Single Page Protect tool needs no database of any kind, as the password is hardcoded in the page code.

Just set the object properties, make sure that you have changed the page extension to be .php , Save and Publish.

If a NON logged in user tries to reach the page, a login form will appear asking for the password.

No other pages (success or error) are required for this tool.

                            Re: Password protection question

I do not understand why the page does not password protect - according to me I do as required. I click on last Icon - opens box - I click on lock box - opens properties. In properties I type password in the right side of the password field under behaviour. The password overwrites the word password which is in the field when opened.
I click ok on property box - it closes but leaves the lockbox on my page - I now save the page, but the "lockbox" remains on my page - I publish it with this box still showing (although this seems wrong to me) but this too does not make it a protected page - the page is definitely a php page - what am I doing wrong please?
                            Thank you
