Autoresponder enquiry

Hi, I did post this somewhere else however no answer so perhaps I posted under wrong title.

I am wishing to set up Autoresponder however there is a message on the tutorial stating you are not using uft-8 language file. You should not save as utf-8 or else you will get corrupted results.
How do I know which character set to use to set up the Auto Responder?

Thank you and sorry if I stepped on anybody's toes when posting on another forum re your message. I did not know that I could not do that since I have seen people add to others so my apologies. I was just looking for an answer that was all.
