    Customer Log In

    Hi All,

Apologies if I have asked this question in the wrong area.

I am looking to extend my website to allow customers to download manuals that are relevant to equipment they have on there premises. What i would like is to be able to issue them a username and password to access a private area of the site where they can download files etc.

I am willing to learn and just wondered if someone could point me in the right direction.

    Thanks

    Rob

    Re: Customer Log In

To create a section of your website that requires Visitors to Login using permissions you assign or 'authorize,' you will need to create a Password Protected Directory in your Control Panel as described by the Tutorial here >>

    Password protecting your website

    * Remember, creating a "Directory" (protected or not) requires the same treatment as would a new website altogether, meaning its own index file as the first page and separate navigation to keep within the directory/site itself, and not linked to outside sites or sources. In other words, treat the Protected Area like a separate website, with an index page and dedicated navigation to keep Visitors from leaving the Directory and bypassing the Login process. You will need to also upload any manuals or resources to the Protected Directory to keep them within the allowed access also.
