Awstats & Unique Visitors / Backlinks

Hi All,

Not sure if this is the proper place to post, but I was wondering how Awstats tracks unique visitors & backlinks. I use Google Analytics & a couple of other online analytics programs to compare data, and Awstats has a far greater number of unique visitors than the others. However, it lists far fewer incoming links than other backlink checking software and analytics tools that I use.
