    Editing files in cpanel

    Hello,
I've watched the tutorials on how to edit my web pages in file manager but the information on the subject is very sparse.
I am looking for a broad description of exactly how to do this.
    Can someone please help me?

    Regards,

    Re: Editing files in cpanel

    Hi General,

Editing files in Cpanel, seems quite intimidating to me!
I’m afraid I might just delete something that I shouldn’t have and thereby cause much greater problems!
Isn’t there perhaps a much easier way?
The UTTERMOST IDEAL way would actually be to delete the file from the internet through cpanel, make the necessary changes in Bluevoda and then republish the file again.
Is something like this possible? Can I do it this way?
Problem is though, there are many “sub- folders?” that are associated
    with each web page.
These will then also have to be deleted to prevent duplication.
How will I know which ones are associated with which page?
Your expert advice will be greatly appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Derek D

Hi, To edit your pages in the file manage simply select the file manager in the control panel then:

      1) Select the web root option then the go button.

      2) Select the file you would like to edit on the right hand side of the screen.

      3) You then can choose one of the three edit buttons at the top:

      edit - simple notepad editor
code editor - more advanced code editor, interface like DreamWeaver or other HTML editors
HTML editor - Shows the page as it appears on the net to allow you to edit

You should choose the one you are most comfortable with using.

      4) After you have selected one of the above editors, you can edit the code, then simply hit the save button to update it on the web.

Hi, the best way is to simply update the page in BlueVoda, as long as you do not change the saved page name when you publish the page again, it will overwrite the old one on the server.

          Hi General,
Will the sub-folders like the images for instance, then also be over written?
Will one not then eventually have a mass of duplicated sub-folders on the internet?

I've tried the HTML editor, which seems to be the easiest one to operate.
Problem is, it doesn't work as smoothly as one would expect.
If you, for example, select a text area and try to move it a bit up or down......it will not budge!
I think I'll rather do my changes in Bluevoda as you suggested.
Your reassurance that it will not cause any complications will be much appreciated.

          Best regards,
          Derek D

Hi, the Images folder is not overwritten, any images that are changed are overwritten, but the folder is not duplicated.
