Let me apologize if this is a duplicate post, but I've searched this forum and just can't quite grasp the concept. The detail here is excellent about the technical transfer steps, but I'm missing the bigger picture.
In my world - abcmedical.org already has a web site up and running - hosted by a different service.
My little company is going to build an upgrade to this web site. I would like to move that site over to VH and keep the existing domain name.
I understand the tactics that are described well in the tutorials, but what actually happens to the clients who are using abcmedical.org.
Before the transfer - when someone types in the URL it point them to the existing MADCOW servers and the web site is displayed. After the transfer takes place - anyone out there looking for that URL will go to VH and get a 404 error. Right?
So, short of porting all of the existing HTML, images, activex, etc over here, how can I effect this transfer and not disrupt the real world business?
Thank you!
