    Transfer of Domain

My son registered a domain name with Go Daddy. ..but after talking with him he would like to have me build his site with vodahost. It seems the law is that we cannot transfer for 60 days. When my son called Go Daddy, they said something to the effect that if he would do a "DNS transfer" that it he could change right away.

Does that make sense to anyone? and if so what would the process be for me to build his site with the domain name that he wants (he absolutely doesn't want to change the name and he doesn't want to wait 60 days)

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Transfer of Domain

All you need to do is have the nameservers pointed here and you can go right ahead using that domain name - transferring isn't necessary. His welcome email will give the correct nameservers to use.

      Re: Transfer of Domain

Thanks Bethers. ..I think I'm getting it. . .I found the tutorial that shows how to point to my nameservers from Go Daddy. ..but I'm still not clear on one more thing.

When I point the DNS to VH nameservers. ..what do I need to do on my side? I want to be able to create my son's website. ..can I do that as a part of my account or does my Son need to have his own account? I'm paying for it either way. I thought I could have several websites on one account? Can a domain redirected from Go Daddy to VH nameservers then be a second website on my account? Is that possible. ..I'm not trying to circumvent any policy. . .I don't want to jerrymander something to get out of paying what I should. ..I'm just confused. My son mistakingly registered the domain name that he wants but on another server (Go Daddy). .He wants me to build the site, but I told him I can do it but only on VH. That's how we got into this quandry.

      Thanks for your help

Yes you can do that - it would then be an add-on domain to your account - follow the instructions to add an add-on domain and after the nameservers are pointed properly, you'll be fine.

Having the domain at GoDaddy is no problem at all.
