    domain info

    Hello,

i have a domain name currently bought and hosted through vodahost, but I haven't done anything with the website yet, and I don't think I will. I have another purchased domain from go daddy, and I was wondering if it was possible to switch the hosting from the current domain name thats being hosted right now to the go daddy domain name I purchased from them?

Please let me know if I can do this or do i have to open up a new hosting account?

    thanks

    Re: domain info

I believe this can be done via a support ticket. But I am not sure if there maybe a charge for this? Just as an idea? Is the new domain having anything in common with your VH domain? As you could point the Go Daddy one at a new (free) VH site & redirect it to your VH domain/site. So if anyone typed in the G/Daddy domain they would end up at your VH one.
    Regards Chris.

hi chris, thanks for replying so quickly.

Unfortunately, the domains have nothing to do with each other. maybe i should just get another hosting account? not sure what to do here.

Hi .. you don't need another voda hosting. If your domain with go daddy is over 60 days old you can ask Voda Host to transfer this domain to your account. (And Chris is right, there is a small charge for this). If your domain with go daddy is not over 60 days old, you can instead log into your go daddy account and point the domain to voda servers. You would then log into your voda host control panel, choose ADD ON domains and add this domain to your voda host account. When the domain that you do not want comes up for renewal you can let voda host know at this time that you do not wish to keep this domain and they will fix your account accordingly ...

Ok, suppose I have a domain that is currently parked, more then 60 days old, and it's under my brother's name? He bought it at the time, and wants to give it to me? anyone know what I can do? Can I just point the nameservers into that domain or transfer it over to vodahost even though it's under his name? if the information for who owns the domain changes, then i'd have to wait another 60 days, which is no big deal i suppose as i can still change the name servers. thanks. I just don't want to put the domain on my hosting site here if it's still under his name and get in trouble or something for it. hope that makes sense.

The domain will need to be in your name. You can also do a transfer from your brother to you ... Your brother will need to log into his account and fill out the form at go daddy (you will find it on their site, if not contact them and they will send you the link) and he will transfer the domain to your name, you will in fact have to accept the transfer, all done by email. I doubt you would wait another 60 days because it is the domain that needs to be 60 days old, not the owner, but if so then like you say you can just point the domain to voda servers.
