I understand the difference between an add on and a sub domain. But what would be the deciding factor of which one to choose?

Re: Add on or Sub domain. How to decide?
if yu own the name make it an add on. that way people can just type in your website name and get to your site directly. if you don't own the name, then just do a sub domain.
that's my choice,

Re: Add on or Sub domain. How to decide?
Can I get an email account with both? Or only the add on?
Also with the sub domain, is it possible to make more than one page under that address?

Re: Add on or Sub domain. How to decide?
You can make as many pages as you want on a subdomain. A subdomain will not be seen as it's own website however, if that's what you want. An add-on domain is it's own website - with it's own domain name - it's not part of the original in any way - except that you are sharing the same VH account and IP.

Re: Add on or Sub domain. How to decide?
Thanks Beth. If I go with a sub domain, can I have info@subdomain.maindomain.com as an email address? Is that do'able?
Also, will the search engines pick up both equally?www.reikiforhorses.ca

Re: Add on or Sub domain. How to decide?
No, the se's will not pick it up the same - that's what I said above. The sub-domain will not get the same importance that an add-on domain will.
The only cost difference for you is the cost of buying a new domain name - so why go for the sub instead? I would ONLY consider using sub-domains if they are off-shoots of the business for that main domain name.
But, then, also, do not use a sub-domain to mirror the main domain, also. Actually don't use an add-on domain to do that either.
I'm not completely sure on the email - as I don't use sub-domains. But I believe you can do that.
