Moving Subdomain to its own URL?

    Hello

My primary URL is: www.benefitplace.biz. I have a subdomain: www.benefitplace.biz/tradeshow.php.

I purchased the domain name, www.bptradeshow.com. I would like to have Voda Host host this site as well. What is the procedure for contracting with Voda Host and moving the subdomain as seamlessly as possible?

    Thanks for your help!

The new domain must be pointed to the VH server where your old domain is hosted. You do that where the new domain name is hosted. (if not at VH)
Go to your Cpanel and click on Addon Domains and generate the new domain folder.
When publishing to the new domain + public_html/newdomain

Thanks but I still am uncertain!

The new domain is not yet hosted. I want VH to be the host. Do I set up a new account with VH? At that point how do I move the subdomain to the new VH hosted domain?

      Thanks,

      Phil

No, you do not need a new account as long as you own both domains.
Follow the steps in my previous post.

I am kinda in the same fix, I have a old website that's not generating anything, I want to abandon it and put another site. I have a domain name registered to me, how do bring it over to VH and start my new site?

Wherever your old domain name is hosted, simply re-direct it to your Voda DNS servers. (or if you registered your domain with *******, they call it 'forwarding')

So, wherever you registered your old domain, point the DNS to your Voda account. (i.e. ns1.voda33.com)

            Hope this helps.

Re: Moving Subdomain to its own URL?

My first domain name is with VH, still is up and running, and I bought a domain name at another domain company, it was on sale,,,,lol,,,but I want VH to host it because I like the VH website builder. So, I want to eleviate my orginal site, and start using my new site, which I'm in the process of building via VH now. I'll be ready in a couple of weeks. What do I do?

                mikee2,
Create an Addon Domain in your CPanel
Point your new domain to your VodaHost server
Publish the new domain to: public_html/newdomainname
                Let your old domain expire.
No need to do anything else.
If you want, just before the old domain expires you can submit a support ticket explaining what you are wanting to do.

Thanks again, Carbon, what's "Holding Page"?

Re: Moving Subdomain to its own URL?

That's a page that appears after you register a domain name but before you publish your site.
You can make your own letting visitors know that the site is not active.
This should be an index page. Put real info here. Not just "Under Construction"
