How long before You can Google without full URL?

Hello there,
I've had my site published for over a week, & can find it by Googling my full URL http://www.legato.org.uk

However if I just google www.legato.org.uk I can't get to it.

How long does it usually take before the site is 'indexed' or whatever, & I can get to the site just using www. ****.org.uk ? or is there something else I need to do, like register with search engines or something?

You're talking nonesense... your site is indexed whether you put http:// or not. But you shouldn't be worried about such a minor detail, you need to be found by keyword searches not your url... which you will find virtually impossible as your site is not optimised for the web. Poor/lack of META data, poorly made pages with your text made as an image which the search engines can't read... you need a rethink here.

Using View on your Source file,

You have all your "content" in multiple images.

Search Engines presently can't read the contents inside an image.

You will have SE indexing problems.

Three basic things that every website should follow:

1. A descriptive title with at least one keyword.
You can make one from the content on your page.

2. Description [tag] as a description and not a bunch of keywords.
You can make one from the content on your page.

3. Fresh and unique content, appropriate to all pages.
The content should have useful and relevant keywords and key phrases,
again that should be reflected in 1. and 2.

Place your url as your signature in all the post you make on this forum and your domain name and posts will be index regularly.

You can check all the pages index in cPanel>awstats

Alas.... I thought I had created a thing of great beauty. A joy to behold, but it appears its ****.
I had imagined my quest into geekdom was at an end, but no..it seems its just begun.
In my deluded state I had imagined that I could hand my business card to someone & they would simply tot www.legato.org.uk into Google & away we go....but its not to be... I need Optimisation... Meta Data... Tags... keywords...Looks like its back to the tutorials & the drawing board for me. I don't know if I'm cut out for this virtual world....ah well. I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again.

Slowly but surely, you are learning to depend on yourself and not on others.

Keep on building your web content reguarly and the Bots and Spiders will also return regularly to index the new info and data.
