    Domain name question ?

I am new at this, (I am no where near done doing my pages I know they need lots of work still), but I was trying to get it to where when I typed my domain I would get my index page. I understand it may not work in google until I fix everything and clean it up for the bots and spiders.

I got the domain through bluevoda as my freedomain and it has been a few weeks. When I look it up whois it shows up as we own the domain name since oct 5 2010.

If I type in the url bar "http://75.126.104.136/~uswlocal/Index.html" I get my index page. If I type my domain name into the url bar I get nothing.

I think I'm naming or doing something wrong. Maybe my page is named wrong. I looked I have the pages saved in the /public_html

I would appreciate any help at all. I have looked at all of the tutorial for this and I don't see one on this issue.

    Re: Domain name question ?

What actually is the Domain that you have set up as Primary Domain for your account? If you say usw7703.org then you are not being forthright, as this domain is not owned by anyone, let alone yours since October 5th.

If, in fact you do have a hosting account with VodaHost, and the free domain you obtained during the purchase of your account was designated as your Primary Domain to be associated for this account, then you are in fact proper in Saving your pages in the public_html/ Blue Voda folder.
If the free domain was to be your Primary domain upon purchase together with your hosting account, then there is nothing you need do to publish successfully to your account.
You must now Save your page as index (all lower case, no capitals), and publish it from within Blue Voda by using the command or the Publish icon directly to your established account, careful to select your assigned server from the drop-down list in the Publish Dialog box, entering your User Name, and the Password that all came with the Account Confirmation email you received from VodaHost.

Review the Tutorials religiously .... you missed the fact on how to Name, Save, and Publish your pages properly: always use lower case letters, no spaces, and use the Publish function from within Blue Voda.

Once you have mastered this, be sure all your pages are linked to each other using the properly named page names.

      Re: Domain name question ?

Thanks Vasili, I appreciate your helping me.

Our Primary Domain for our account is uswlocal7703.com This domain name was not ordered because we wanted the domain usw7703.org. There was some confusion when we first signed up within our union. I ordered for our free domain the usw7703.org it shows up in our VBS client area and the whois as we own the domain until 5 oct 2011.

Could this be any kind of a problem our account and domain not matching? I thought about requesting the main domain account be reset to or domain usw7703.org

I did rename the pages with all lower case letters, watched the video several times and did not catch it how embarrassing. I double checked our server Ip "75.126.104.136" when publishing looks correct and I use the blue voda site builder when publishing to the web.

I am still thinking I should be able to inset www.usw7703.org in the url bar and get our site pulled up with the domain, or I am I thinking wrong?

        1. If the Primary Domain for your account is uswlocal7703.com, you will need to create from within your Control Panel an Add-On domain named uswlocal7703.org and publish to that new domain's directory.
        Here's a brief run-down on the concepts:

Differences in Domain Types via URL Examples:
        http://www.PrimaryDomain.com
http://www.AddOnDomain.com which is an actual registered domain with Nameservers set at your VodaHost account
http://SubDomain.PrimaryDomain.com which is a fully functional non-registered domain created in your cPanel as an independent site (directory) in Main Account

... how to create the proper type of domain directory ... >> (Control Panel Tutorials, v.X3)
VodaHost operates both X and X3 versions of cPanel. Customers who joined after November 1, 2007 are on X3.
Adding an additional add-on domain name to your account
        Creating a sub-domain ( A sub-domain is not an Add-On)

        And ... how to PUBLISH ... >> http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/347454-post3.html
The method of publishing with Blue Voda to Add-On domains and Sub-Domains is virtually the same, by making simple changes within the Publish Dialog Box:
(Primary Account Domain) public_html/ .........<--- leave blank
        (Add-On Domain) public_html/addondomain
(Sub-Domain, as shown on Primary) public_html/primarydomainname/subdomainname
Publishing your web pages on the internet

...as well as how to best link pages ... >> http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/347454-post3.html
        * To link page-to-page in this new site - if an add-on - the linking method is exactly the same as when using your Primary domain, as it has a unique domain from which to find the hosted site:
        i.e. http://www.AddOnDomain.com/next-page.html
        * To link page-to-page in a subdomain, you will need to follow the same logical structure, only adding the variables as required:
        i.e. http://Sub-Domain.PrimaryDomain.com/next-page-title-here.html .

Linking your pages together (Hyperlinks with text, images etc...)

        2. Since this was an additional domain purchased from VodaHost, you will need to also set the Nameservers for the domain, for it is simply just sitting there in your account not knowing where to point to ..... you'll need to review the Tutorials on setting your VodaHost registered (through Enom) domain Nameservers ...

          Re: Domain name question ?

Thank you for being patient. I have been working on this for sometime now. I just wanted to make sure everything was ok before I stated working on my pages to much, since our domain and account was different.

I added on the domain and republished to the new folder and it works.

          thanks again
