Hey, Don .... been quite a while.

It's easier (and cheaper) to simply create an Add-On Domain in your Control Panel in your existing VodaHost account to 'add on' the domain you now have added to your webpire.

Hopefully the domain is registered at the same place the present website is hosted, so making the changes on that end is simplified.

You will need access to the Control Panel for both the present website and for the domain in question ... and that is what really is meant by "having control" over it.

Once you have access to the hosted site, you can simply copy the files into a folder on your own computer, and then later upload them into the public_html/ directory of the Add-On you created in your account at VodaHost for it to display properly --- it doesn't have to be a Blue Voda created site to use the files you copied down from the previous host. If you want to make changes to the website, you will need the tools to do so. I get the feeling it is not a Blue Voda created website you're talking about ....

Also in the Control Panel of the Doamin, you can initiate the transfer of the Domain to your VodaHost account, where you can keep everything under one roof, allowing you to renew it along with your other stuff. Even though you created an Add-On to your account with the same domain name and transferred the domain to your account, the final step is to make the Nameserver configurations so the Domain itself points to the server your account is assigned. That is the final step.

Hello Vasili it has been awhile I am a busy boy even when I try not to be.

I have already created the new site pages on my site builder and will do away with the old pages. Mine are prettier :)

The Nameserver configurations is the part I will have problems with is there a tutorial for that, if so I could not locate it.

And yes I will transfer the domain to voda host but first things first lets get the new web site up and running.

Vasili I'm leaning on you some here but this is uncharted territory for me so please bear with me.

I went into my cpanel and added the new domain name to my account, but I have not changed my name server just yet. Should I go ahead and up load my page files now so that when the name server change takes effect it will display the new pages?

Once that is done I will transfer the domain name to voda host. Dose this make sense, been 20 some hours and no sleep yet.

Go ahead and load up the site to the new add-on domain ... then go back to the domain and make the DNS/Nameserver setting changes. The website should properly display within a few hours of the DNS changes being made.

Depending on where the domain is residing now, you may wish to either let it stay there based simply on the cost of renewal (sometimes it is much less expensive letting it reside with a registrar other than a reseller, as is VodaHost, who sells Enom's services), so think carefully what is easier for you. I tend to make decisions on the bigger picture, and put a lot of consideration on how the customer cPanel is set up (so I have easy access to my domains and can make all the changes easily myself), whether or not they have a telephone number to speak to a real rep, etc. All of my 624 domains are still with GDad for this reason, and I have no problem in 12 years with any service from them whatsoever. Can't say the same for some others ....

If the registrar is not a reseller, if the cost of renewal is favorable, and if the Customer Control Panel allows easy access to your domain, I would let it stay there and avoid the hassles of moving to a reseller and trying to cope with waiting periods and the like. Personally.

Thanks for the advice Vasili and I guess I am smarter than I look I figured out all that needs done and was far simpler than I thought it would be. Now I feel a little foolish for having asked the questions now. But as they say live and learn.
