What is PoP & Webmail

i want to know what is PoP and webmail and why we need outlook i have seen videos but i m unable to understand the basic function of PoP and webmail and subdomain
add ons domain please help me with all this as video shows instruction very nicely but not its function in detain. :(

i watched the videos again and i have setup my PoP email and outlook express.And now i m 60% done i used other site help to get information about PoP email concept "What are POP email accounts?
POP accounts allow you to have personalized email addresses using your own domain name like: sales@yourdomainname.com or you@yourbusiness"
i didn't find it on user guide but i found something else which help me to understand what is sub domain but still i need to no about add on domain and little more about sub domain in detail and what is webmail and why is that i can find email in my out look express and can't find them on webmail are they different.can anyone guide me through this difficult time.
