I was having problems setting up outlook to send and receive emails for a while with no solutions. An error with SMTP always appear. After looking through the forum, I realized that the ISP outgoing server should be used to fix the problem. After searching google, I found a site that has a list of ISP outgoing servers:
This is what I entered in outlook to setup for example:
Name: Abel Johnson
Email Address: Abel@YOURDOMAIN.com (made up)
Account Type: POP3
Incoming mail server: mail@YOURDOMAIN.com
Outgoing mail server: mail.optonline.net (my ISP is optimum online; retrieved outgoing server from link above)
User Name: Abel@YOURDOMAIN.com (same as email address)
Password: whatever your password is
Under "More Settings" on the "Outgoing Server" tab:
uncheck (if check) my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication then hit OK
Everything worked at this point. No errors came back after running "Test Account Setting" and I'm now able to send and receive emails. Finally.
Hopefully this will be of aid for someone. Good Luck.
