Emails disappearing from my phone

I have recently changed from a Blackberry torch to a ******* Galaxy S2. The problem thatam having is that it is deleting emails from the inbox. I have spoken to Vodafone about this and they were unable to help as apparently they should stay on the phone until deleted. They suggested that it may be a setting that needs to be changed on the email server. Have you come across this one before or do I just have a dodgy phone. (Ihave rebooted the phone)
