Need Help several items

I want to create my own template once I create on a blank page? what do I save it as? also I am making 3 sites so when I save each home page as index am i saving as index or do I enter www.name.com/index

I want to put a box? on my home page that rotates or fade a pic to another pic - not sure how to do this these are properties I want to have viewed

Save it as template, the box bit requires the use of flash, this is much more complicated.
