    Transparent images

    Hello.
Is it possible to have trasparent images in bluevoda?

    e.g. your buttons.

because on my site i have big white pixels around my nav boxes :(

Also bluevoda seems to have a problem with .png files :S

That would be a great new feature for the next version.

with the png files if you view or publish your web you will see the files then. It seems to show as cannot find image or something like that in BV but when you view or upload your images are shown. - thats what I found with mine.

BlueVoda already supports transparent (gif) images.
It doesn't support PNG yet, because Internet Explorer does not support transparency for PNG. A second reason is that it will take a few weeks to implement this feature and since the average user does not care about PNG, until now it did not have our highest priority.
The upcoming version IE7 (scheduled for 2006) will support transparent PNGs and we might add it to BlueVoda as well.

There are two different kinds of transparency:
              1. palette based transparency
              2. per-pixel alpha transparency
The first is already supported by BlueVoda. Also for the navigationbar!

Some of the included buttons (bluevoda/navbar folder) do have transparency, but most of them don't. To make them transparent you'll have to edit the bitmap using an image editor like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop.

The PNG format uses per-pixel alpha transparency and cannot be converted to gif, without loosing the alpha channel information and reducing the color palette to 256 colors.

For more information about the upcoming transparency support in Microsoft's IE7 go here: http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2005/04/26/412263.aspx
