I would like to purchase a templete for my website, but I am unsure whether I will need to purchase additional software in order to work with them, or is the vodahost web site builder enough?

To Install templates you need to do the following steps

Before you begin to download templates, please make sure that you have
the latest version of WinZip installed on your computer. If you are not sure,
please click the link below.

1) Once you find a template you would like to use. download it to
your computer and save it to your desk top.

2) unzip the template. You will need the latest version of winzip. If you
do not have WinZip on your computer. Please click the link below.

3) add a template background to your webpage just like you would add an image.

if this is a voda template i.e a flash one or a full install from the link at the front voda page then when you go to view the templates they say what programes you need to use the templates and to install them
