    Clean up Public.html folder

    My Domain name is www.onyxdigital.co.nz
I have started several attempts at a website in the Public.html folder and made a hash of it.
I have started a trial site using soholaunch (which can be deleted), and I have several new mini sites in sub-folders which I want to keep.
The problem I have is that I uploaded a large site, which should have been loaded to a sub-folder, but instead was loaded directly into the Public.html.
I now have, in Public.html, some good minisites, and soholaunch.
    1) I want to remove the remenants of the large site without deleting something cruicial to soholaunch and the rest of them.
    2) Would it clarify things if I just closed soholaunch, deleted my surplus files, and reopened soholaunch again?
    3) Would this leave my sub-folders intact?

    Regards

    Trevor

You have to know for sure what files you want to delete. Wait until you have finished designing your site(s), then make note of the files you want to keep. Delete the rest.

      Re: Clean up Public.html folder

      Hi Scubadiver. we meet again.
I have learnt my lesson and have since loaded all new work to sub-folders, which works well. My problem is not knowing what will be removed from Public.html when I turn off Soholaunch. Will it effect anything else in the Public.html folder?'
If I knew what the list of base files was in a raw Public.html folder I could happily remove my stuff around them.

      Regards

      Trevor

        Re: Clean up Public.html folder

Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that soho and bv cannot reside in the same folder/directory

If you are not to far into soho, you can always uninstall soho from your control panel without touching your bv stuff and then
        re-install soho to a seperate folder/subfolder
        Have fun

          Re: Clean up Public.html folder

          Thanks David.
I have already removed soholaunch, and proceeded to delete the stuff I don't need. However I then found that soholaunch wasn't available to reload to anywhere. So I think it has to be the only one in Public.html, or not loaded at all.
What little I had of soholaunch, I found to be awkward, and I think we will probably stick with BV or Frontpage, where we can have greater offline editing control. I am currently talking with support as to whether they need to reset the site and lose my content, or whether we just proceed as is.

          Regards
          Trevor

            Dear David,

How can i uninstall soholaunch safely in control panel? Can roughly give me the procedure. Actually i hv installed soho at the begining but nv use it afterall, so i hv decide to uninstall it because i have encountered some "webpage cannot be displayed" problem and i think that it may be the culprit.

            Thanks.
            Cheers,
            Eric PSF

              Hi EricPSF,

              Go into your Cpanel
select fantastico (right at the bottom)
              select soho
              select uninstall

Never done it myself, but that should work...............
              Have fun
              Regards..... David
