I know that IRC is not permitted on VodaHost servers, but is myPHPchat still a viable option?

No its not, No chat servers of any type are available.

1)They use to many system resources. For a shared hosting server. Watch
out for any hosting company that offers this on a shared server. They are
just trying to get business and throwing server quality out the window.

2)They are too unsesure. (very hackable). Unless you get a enterprise level
IRC and this will cost you more than $7.95 per month to run.

Thanks for the quick reply. To be honest, I was hoping that's what you'd say, because it's not something I really wanted to deal with in the first place, but a couple of my forum members had asked about it, so I told them I'd see what I could do. With your answer in hand, I can now tell them "no" without feeling guilty about it. LOL
