    Page design

Hello! I've noticed that BlueVoda offers page templates to use when building a Web site. If I decided not to use a template but created my own design in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint or a design program, what would be the best way to upload the page in BlueVoda? Would it be best to save the page as a gif file like the other templates or save as an html (or mhpt) page?

Treat headers and page designs as images.. gif is best.

        Bee89,
Because your image might be a large one, consider using the Background feature in Page Properties and then save as a new template. If it is a photograph, say something you have converted into a watermark and need detail it will be best to save as a *jpeg, lines and designs will work really nice as *gif as will transparent backgrounds.
You may have to experiment as your template will repeat itself.

I created my own template in Photoshop and saved the image as a *gif. It loads faster as a gif than it did as a bmp. Test it out and see how it goes.
          Good luck

If your template is something you can create on BV - then it would be much simpler and not require all this extra work. BV has so many of the tools necessary to do it.

                    Hi Bethers,
I have done this, 'creating my template in BV' but it is not static. All of my design objects are still moveable and they show up in the html code for my page which makes it quite lengthy. When I take a text box (as an example) and 'send it to back' it falls behind my design. Is there any way to remedy this?
                    Thanks

                      Hi Dori

If you make your template with the content on it that you want on every page, you then save it as template or starter or whatever you wish to call it, and every page you create you open with that and add your new content for that page on that, and then save it as the new page name .... beginning every page with your template or whatever it is you called it ...

I do this, create my own, have all my nav bars in place, images, links, etc., that I want showing on every page .... then I call this page up when I create the next page ... this makes for quick loading as the viewer has already loaded this page into their cache each time, your site just goes through with a simple click ....

                        Hi LadyEye
Is this a static template though? If you send a text box or additional image 'to back', does it fall behind your template? This is where I am running into trouble. In BV, I created my basic page and saved as template, but when I open it I can still click on an element that is part of the template and move or delete it.
                        confused.... but consistent!
thanks for any advice you can offer

Dori, I make mine in parts - header, navigation, footer - and call them up using the php method now.

And I WANT my template to move - as the footer will not always be in the exact same location on every page - but some pages will be longer than others.

Why don't you "lock" all the elements of the template? Remember, depending on what you are putting into your template - if it has any words, etc - if you make the entire thing one picture, se's and people who are using computers without images, will not see any of it.

The content of the site will be added as needed. I only want to make most of my design static. Everything else (headers, text, some images)will be SE friendly. I think I locked some of my design elements and the content still fell behind when I sent to back. I will try again tonight and see what happens.
