Confusion with Ping/Trackback

I recieved an email stating that I had a new ping/trackback in a thread Id participated. I have no clue what to do with this information or if in fact anything.

Is it emails you receive from Voda? ... everyone talks about emails, but I however, do not get any ... I wonder why? What am I missing, lol
