I think you can but it would take wuite awhile to do and only if the dvd did not have copyright protection. Even then it would need a dvd decoder on site to play

Yes, I am not aware that a dvd can be uploaded. I believe the dvd would need to be converted to another format, and well that is another hefty job let alone much software is needed to do so ... it's almost a job for someone who specializes in doing so. I know here the rates for doing this conversion is pretty costly.

I think you can get some software called 'Nero' which would be able to convert but again most dvd's have a block on them which will stop this software copying copyright dvds. If it is a home brewed dvd then it would make things a whole lot easier

I want to be able to have people view videos of my acting work on my website. The stuff I'm wanting to put up there is not copyright protected. Does that clarify in any way?
Most of the time if an actual dvd it will either be in a zip file, or if it is meant to be played on the website it will be converted to a different file format.
If you are planning on uploading a copyrighted DVD, you might want to tihnk twice. Any webhost is going to report you and your personal information to the authorities (may face criminal charges)and also you will lose your hosting (along with the money you paid for the hosting time that was remaining),

You'd need to convert it to another format, preferably flash, for it to play well for your visitors.
We've used AoA DVD Ripper in the past to rip the dvd file to .avi, and then used Flash Video MX to convert it to a flash file (.flv) for easy, quick loading online.
I'm sure there are other tools that will accomplish the same thing, but these are the ones I'm familiar with.
