    password for site

Can I publish my site and protect the whole site with a password, so that it would require a password before the site will open? This way I could publish my site, work on it, arrange it and relese it for public when I would decide.
I guess that it has to do something with cPanel, folder and up-loading pages.

You have to create the directory first. You can not password protect a directory that does not exist.

Hi, you need to password protect this by going into your control panel and clicking the password protection icon. Here is a video that will guide you through the process, it is very easy:

Ok firtst ya to many questions but oh well
                            First
1)to to public_html (done ok lets move on)
2)you want o password protect it right? Alright put the page you want to protect in that folder, done ok lets move on.
3)go to (password protect dirrectories) in your C-panel, then you see your new folder thats great, now click on that folder. Now you see that box called Protected resources name thats the name, now name it. (you done? great move on)
4)the user name and password box is the name and pass you give when you log in to your password protected area (note your domain name and pass will not work you must enter it in, in number 5.
5)Now bellow is the example: lets say for example put trigg as user, and password 4080

                            Active users

User Name: Trigg Add/modify authorized user
                            Password: 4080 Change Pass

Now press the Add/modified button to add the user
It should look like this bellow:

                            Active users
                            Trigg

                            User Name: Add/modify authorized user
                            Password: Change pass

Now that trigg is added he can log in with is name and password you have made:
                            Now a few questions answered:

(Q)When i create a folder in my Public_html will i see it on my index or somethen?
(A)When you create a folder in your public_html so far its not showen on my index it wont be seen the folder name you given is the name is could be your members area for example then you would put your memebrs.html note thing into the new folder you have created to protect it, the folder does not have to be the same name as the page you made.

(Q)How do we create a folder in our public_html...? After protecting it, how does it seem on the index page?
(My answer)To create a folder, go to the public_html and at the top it will say "create new folder" press it and at the top-right a box will apear type the name of the folder there after you will see it in there. Now when you go in there Theres nothing in there? you have to put your page in there, lets say your members.html look for it in your public_html at then click on it then on the right it will have options. click on move now when you move it, if you want to move it in a folder inside a folder then you click on the FOlder icon not the NAme!!
Now click on the name of your members folder to put it in there.
Now after your done go look oh wow!! its in there!!!! if your password manager is running on that folder then the page in there is protected!
I don't think you wont notice anything on your page
but this is as much as i know preobley you know most of it
if so reply and someone will help you out there!

And to answer that question and finsh this typing:
(Q)Can I publish my site and protect the whole site with a password
Yes but you must publish first before protecting it im certain i think
because it wont show up in your Public_html

heres the video also for the password thing!

Wow i sound so cool when i talk like this i think VODE SHOULD HIRE ME!

I've done all that and thanks for the great detailed instructions! my problem now is....I don't see the pictures in the protected page when i go to it!, I see everything that came from outside my files ie: shoutbox, arcade games' link and some buttons to free service links. Also a box shows up and asks for "username and password for this content"
