Help! How do I download Fantastico-and open it?

I am hosted with Voda Host and have tried several times to download Fantastico to the website I am building. Yet when I attempt to open the zip file, I get a message saying that "header cannot be read." What does this mean? Please could someone just lead me step by step to get the osCommerce shopping cart onto my website that I am in the process of building! I must admit, I am a little frustrated here!
