i have an image on a black background and id like to display it on my website so the black background will appear transparent / invisible. how can i achieve this???

By using a transparent gif or png and make the background transparent on the image

Hi, good little tip above. But you can use the same method, & if the back ground of the page is a solid color , it can somtimes look better to make the images background the same color. (Sometimes stops the serrated edges on the image)

another great program to use is getpaint.net and use the magic wand feature. this program is free and offers tons of tutorials on picture manipulations. good luck. my favorite it popping out of the picture tutorial
