Template background

Hello you wise men,
Please tell me where I have gone astray.
I would like to use a template background downloaded from our own templates on site. I get the background I would like, but no matter which one I use, it
shows on my page as wide stripes rather than a continuous pattern, ie the natural background shows in the other open portions. This problem occurs both in the page properties set up and if I use a table and try to download the pattern into the cell.
How can I rectify please?

do you have the website you are sampling from. I need to look at the source code to figure out your problem.

if im not mistaking, your image is a small image repeating itself to look like a bigger picture. there is a html, xml, or CSS code that fixes that. but again i don't know what is happening yet.
