    Various problems with Bluevoda

I recently signed up for the Vodahost service but I’m having the following problems with Bluevoda site builder.

    1) The version I’m using was one I downloaded some months back as I am unable to download the latest version. The message: “Error in compressed file – Bad CRC” constantly crops up invalidating my download.

Also in the instructional movies there are little dots that guide you as to where you want to put your text etc. but I don’t have them and I am unable to expand the text box once selected. It can only be expanded and placed in position once I start filling it with text.

    2) I have recorded some screen capture videos using Camtasia Studio but when I try to put them on my webpage using either the “Media Player” or “Quicktime” option they do not show up on my webpage after selecting the “Preview” option – there is either a complete blank or sometimes the faint outline of where the screen should be is visible but no video appears.

    Re: Various problems with Bluevoda

No worries mate, lets take it one step at a time...

    1)
Bad CRC is a bad download...
    a) close down BV and reboot your computer.
    b) Click the link below to download the zipped version of BV

    www.bluevoda.com/bv.zip

unzip and Install directly over any other versions and reboot again.

    c) The little dots are called grid lines, to activate them. Open up BV

    View >> Grid

    2) Please make sure you save your media files in the correct format
and insert them accordingly. The media insertion feature works perfectly.
    please try again.

      Re: Various problems with Bluevoda

Thanks very much for the immediate reply – I am honestly very impressed.

I’ve managed to get the download working and I’ve got my little dots!!

But – I’m cannot for the life of me get the Media Player to work.

The Camtasia files are ‘avi’ files (they also say ‘camproj’ ‘cam’) but try as I may I cannot get this feature to work.

Export the project as an mpeg. Camtasia has a very good help feature.

          Re: Various problems with Bluevoda

          Well, I’ve tried it all.

          Camtasia gives the following options.

          “Produce Video As”…

          AVI Video File
          Macromedia Flash (SWF) movie file
Macromedia Flash Video (FLV) streaming media file
          Quick Time (MOV) movie file
Windows Media (WMV) streaming media file
          RealMedia (RM) streaming media file
Camtasia for Real Player (CAMV) streaming media file
          GIF animation file
          Custom Production File

BTW 'mpeg' is not an option.

I obviously tried both Windows Media and Quick Time first - then the other options

I went to bed at 4 a.m. and still have not been able to make the videos appear on the webpage.

These videos are of paramount importance (they show real time stock market entries and exits live from the New York Stock Exchange and the subsequent accumulated daily profits).

Without these videos all I have is just another financial webpage.

This actually a very simple task.

            1) save your movie as an mpeg on your desktop
            2) Click the windows media player button in bv. It is the 7th. one down on the right.
            3) Double click the windows media player
            4) search for the mpeg file on your desk top
            5) Insert your mpeg and press OK

            Your Done!

              Re: Various problems with Bluevoda

Sorry to sound so dumb but when I try to save the movie I only have the options I set out in the previous post – ‘mpeg’ is not among them.

And the options in the ‘type’ of file are preset i.e. ‘Camtasia Studio Project (.camproj).

How would I select ‘mpeg’ if this option is not available?

Once again I apologize for sounding so dumb and reiterate my gratitude for all your support and patience.

                Producing a Video

When you have set the timing and sequence of video clips and still images in your video, you are ready to produce your video. This process, also called "rendering," assembles all of the audio, video, and images into one video file, based on the sequence you have established on the storyboard. Producing takes place though the use the Production Wizard.

This option is found in the Task List under Produce > Produce Video As or under File > Produce Video As. The easy-to-use wizard presents a series of wizard panels that prompt you for the information needed to produce the video. Overall, the steps to creating the video are as follows:
                1. Add desired files to storyboard by dragging from the Clip Bin.
                2. Apply all edits to clips on Timeline or Storyboard.
                3. Choose Produce Video As. (Select WMV)
                4. Choose the desired encoding options.
                5. Choose the video size options.
                6. Choose the destination folder and a name.
                7. Produce the video.
                Video Production Options

When you choose Produce Video As, the following Video Production Options dialog box appears.

During this step, you will be selecting the file format of the video you are creating. There are many formats to choose from with each format having their own particular set of options.

Note: The most used formats are currently displayed in this list. To see other formats, click on the Show me more link.

Note: Once you have selected the desired file format, you will then need to select specific options for that format.

Once you have made your selection, choose Next to continue. The encoding options for the type of format you chose will display. For each of the different Movie File Formats that can be selected, there is a corresponding Encoding Options dialog box that is used to configure the video during production.

To continue, click on the link that corresponds to the video file format that you chose.
