  • mod_gzip

    hi,

I would like to install some sort of content encoding for java scripts and html so I can get my page size down, and was thinking of installing this module, is this accepted and can I do it or do I need to raise a support ticket?

    Re: mod_gzip

Okay, what I have done is run my index page through a web page analyser (http://www.websiteoptimization.com/s...yze/index.html), and I'm concerned that it will take too long for the page to load for 56k users (14 Secs), there are a few images on it but I'm more concerned about the java and html, since most surfers will not wait more than 8 secs before they hit the stop button. This is a major concern as my site will be commercial.

So I have done a bit of searching around and most commercial sites use content encoding, with mod_gzip being the most popular, I have limited knowledge about apache so any help would be greatly apprieciated.

Please could you advise me on the best course of action, if you need any furthur info, please ask.

My site for ref is www.morclothing.co.uk,

    Thanks,
    Matt
