You have to name your home page (the first page you want to be viewed) as index nothing else, no capital letters, no extensions (.html, .php, .bvp) Then when you publish it, it will go.
All browsers are set up to look for the index page when ever they enter a site, unless they are directed elsewhere.
That is why it is imperative that the first page that you publish should be the index page.
You can TITLE the page as you wish (page properties) but you MUST name and save it as index only as D'son has correctly pointed out.

Its actually the server that delivers the index page as the default. You can use a .htaccess file to set any page you want as the default page to display when someone visits your website.
