How can I edit or remove web content

I have debri on my site from building and thought it was cleared out of the way. I need to know how to close unused text boxes that are on my site. Do I simply reduce them to size and click the blue square away. http://www.swimmingpoolprofessor.com/poolpoll.html

I was able to cut them away. That did the trick but I could still use help on the poll set-up Q
