Setting correct page height & legnth

Is there a specific height and legnth that I should be saving my pages so that no matter what type of monitor is viewing it looks the same. I recently designed my website (still not published yet) from my laptop, and now I am working on a desktop with a larger monitor. When I opened the saved document that I had already created, and then previewed it, there was black on the screen from where I didn't stretch my background too.
I am just wondering what happens when another person opens it. I want them to see exactly what I am seeing.

    Hi,

BlueVoda has a preset default width at 800 which is the std that you should use. You can extend the width up to a 1000 if you like.

As far as the height there is really no specific length. It is up to you.

Right click on a blank area of the page, choose page properties and increase the page height there.
