    Publishing

    Hello.
I have my site ready to publish. I have the user name and password and the domain name thru Blue Voda. How do I upload all the pages to the web?

    Re: Publishing

I have the same question kinda...

If you watch the video on publishing it explains it well and is very easy.

    Problem is it doesn't work..

Now understand I have been using Blue Voda for some time but not Voda Host. I have always saved the page and images and then saved the HTML into word pad and then downloaded everything into the server.

I did that today for an index page just to have something published and it worked fine.

Now I have gone back and finished pages and tried using the publisher. I signed in and it said everything was fine and successful but no changes on the internet!

What am I doing wrong? Does it automatically down load all the images too at the same time? Is there a delay and I am being impatient? I have never had to clear my browser or cookies before to see changes using firefox but do I have to now doing it this way??

This is the greatest thing ever compared to how I have to do it on other servers, if it just worked!

Please help as I know I am doing something wrong....

skipper1, unlike other web builders you may be used to, BlueVoda doen't work right if you upload pages. Instead, you publish the pages using the Publish icon. Keep in mind you must publish each page as BV can't publish a whole website at once.

nit2winn, BV requires a VodaHost account to function. The html is proprietary.

lmao ok I thought I was clear but will try again....

I HAVE A VODA HOST ACCOUNT.

That is my problem, I did everything as directed and got a success prompt that my upload was successful. But guess what? It wasnt and there were no changes to my page online.

Please read what I wrote again as I was very clear. I do need help as if it works that the cats meow.

Not being rude and do appreciate the help but you didnt understand my question.

That's the part I misunderstood. If you are trying to upload your pages and images to the server, you'll have trouble. The BV builder pretty much requires you to use the Publish icon. The FTP Manager (and the cPanel ftp) is for things like video, etc.

          Hope that helps :)

            Hey Tom,

I know you are trying to help and I am not explaining it right.

            I built my page
            I saved my page
I clicked on publish in Blue Vode
I picked my IP address for my site
I entered my user name and password
I made sure the public address was entered
            I clicked publish
            It did its deal
I got a prompt that my page has been published "success"

Yet nothing changed and the page is not on the internet.

I used Blue Voda and uploaded it to my Voda Host servers...

Do you have a link to the page (even if it doesn't work)?

Yes I have a page up www.jamesincemotorsports.com just so I have something up but I had to do it the other way. The publish feature did nothing. Even though it said it did.

                  Re: Publishing

                  You have two index pages:

                  www.jamesincemotorsports.com/index.html

                  www.jamesincemotorsports.com/index.php

Is one of them the page you wanted? If so, be sure to delete the other from the server (an html and php version with the same page name tends to create trouble).

Wow thats a new one. I have no idea about the php one. I am assuming that is what the publisher did?

                      Re: Publishing

Don't know why it happened specifically to your page, but php is required for a form, so any page with a form will automatically be published by BV with a php extension. It's one of those "gotchas" that get a lot of people when they try to link to what they assume is an html page.

Does the publisher load files as a .php?

If so do I save the file as a .php instead of .html?

The publisher must have done that since I know nothing about .php

                            WOW I AM SO IMPRESSED!

I just deleted everything and then used the publisher. It did load it as a .php but oh my gosh how wonderful and fast!

So now I only have one index page and if I type in www.jamesincemotorsports.com it seems to be perfect!

You have been a great help and I just cant explain how wonderful the publisher is over a ftp
