You can submit your URL, better yet your sitemap URL,
to search engines such as Google, Yahoo, Bing.

Don't submit it more than once. Once is enough.

Their crawlers would find you the next time.

Re: Getting added to search engines

Your sitemap is added to your website as an "attribute" that specifically aids the bots to accurately 'read' your site construct, and although Google alone seems to allow sitemap submission, it is dubious at best. I have yet to submit a single sitemap file in all the years of designing websites or performing deep SEO: this new 'ability' (post-April 2009) is completely insignificant to organic values and sustainable benefit.

Be patient for the SE bots to crawl your website organically, with the satisfaction of knowing they will probably do a much better job since you do in fact have a current sitemap in place. If you have not submitted your website whatsoever, you may wish to consider doing so to the 4 major SE's only, but the wait list is rather long and really does no more benefit than waiting for a regular cache crawl.
VodaHost offers a 1 time URL submission, if this of interest to you. Submit your request via Support Ticket.

Ive yet to submit a site to a search engine. You link to it from your signature and a few other places, add your sitemap, use the rel statement in your head tag for all se to find your sitemaps and use google webmaster tools and tell them where to find your sitemap and you should be good to go.

Yeah yeah yeah.. but that dont mean they will index you any faster. Might even take longer than them following a link naturally from a site like this that is already heavily indexed. Its more likely to get indexed from here than any site submission you do.

Just imagine that 10 million sites that go up every day...and you put your name on a list for google to get to....LOL
