There is no control panel in start menu.I am unable to uninstal few softwares.please help.

Is this a recent problem? if so try a System Restore. You may have to boot in Safe Mode if it doesnt work in normal mode.
You could also do a "REPAIR" installation of your OS.CarbonTerry
