Adding Naviagiation bar to Word Press Blog

Hi guys, i want to add my website navigation to my wordpress blog. I already tried putting the css code for my navigation into the stylesheet (css) of my wordpress blog and the html code for the navigation into header.php but all it showed was the links and nothing else.

Any idea how i can get it working properly?
