The advantages are if you made the movie you get a larger audience to watch your work and a greater number of people access your link the disadvantage is you don't make any money unless it's a e-commerce site that pay and use the facility,

Just as mathew1204 states you get a larger audience, your viewers will gain a richer experience. You can combine your web page with a youtube channel causing a synergy, hence creating a great improvement of your SEO.
