can i alert the user if he has not selected enough "players" (vaules) before submitting,

for example if i need a min/max of 3 "players" (vaules) to be chosen (ie 3 vaules to be anything other than the default vaule) can i have a pop up alerting the user if he has more or less than the required 3 before submitting forcing them back to make the correct number of choices (eg 3 choices)

Yes, but you will need to code your own Javascript to perform this validation and alert the user. This is not a standard validation type so it can't be implemented with the standard BV validation tools.
