Typically, YouTube videos not playing on mobile devices has to do with only three possible issues:
    1. The Mobile Device itself does not have a compatible browser; Mobile browsers are much "lighter" in code than desktop browsers and do not have the same robust capabilities, thus operate very differently processing what we consider 'standard' formats and files (for example, it was not only until recently that mobile devices were capable of rendering Flash without an App installed). Remember, too, not all Smartphones are the same (even by the same manufacturer), and not every consumer uses the same OS or version ...
    2. The mobile device is not using (or has not been loaded with) the YouTube App to view YouTube hosted videos. This is the newer requirement by YouTube so they can dovetail their advertising technology across all platforms effectively while resolving the functionality discrepancies due to being a much different type of coded browser. You may need to add a "hyperlinked prompt" on your website near the video for visitors to link to the YouTube App so they can download it (similar to how we used to always prompt Visitors to load Adobe Flash to see the Players).
    3. The video includes 3rd Party Copyright Material (usually a Song or Music track) for which permission or license has not been given to distribute in the video, and modern devices are quick to pick up on this if present in the video code itself (the result of Android technology competing with iOS for revenue containment).

And, despite discussion to the contrary, there is still a compelling demand to create alternatively accessible MOBI Sites, as outlined here.

You have inadvertently encountered this issue as the core reason most professionally created websites (and businesses) are so focused on creating their own Apps --- so they can directly engage with consumers while providing the seamless functionality (video views, streaming, etc.) as they assure the optimal Visitor Experience. Not only does an App guarantee peak performance (video, downloads, streaming, etc.). but it is also specifically a means to control Content Distribution. Starting to see the bigger picture?
